Right angle bearing seat is the core component that supports bearings, fixes bearing positions, and transmits loads. 1、 General core characteristics of bearing seat


Regardless of the material or structure, the bearing seat must meet the core functions of "supporting stability, adapting to bearings, and transmitting loads", and therefore have the following common characteristics:


Accurate positioning and support


The bearing seat is equipped with installation grooves (such as circular, square, or spherical grooves) that match the outer ring of the bearing, which can accurately fix the position of the bearing, ensure the coaxiality between the inner ring and the shaft, and the outer ring and the seat body of the bearing, and avoid additional wear or vibration caused by offset during bearing operation; At the same time, the bearing is stably fixed on the equipment frame or base through the installation holes (bolt holes, welding surfaces, etc.) of the seat body itself, forming a complete force transmission path.


Strong load transfer capability


The radial load (such as the radial pressure on the motor shaft) and axial load (such as the axial thrust of gear transmission) borne by the bearing during operation will be transmitted to the bearing seat through the outer ring of the bearing, and then dispersed to the equipment frame by the seat. Therefore, the bearing seat needs to have sufficient structural strength to avoid deformation, cracking, and even bearing jamming caused by excessive load.


Wide adaptability and compatibility


Corresponding structures can be designed based on the type of bearing, such as deep groove ball bearings, self-aligning roller bearings, and tapered roller bearings. For example, the outer spherical bearing seat has a spherical inner hole to meet the self-aligning requirements of the outer spherical bearing; At the same time, by adjusting the size of the seat body (such as aperture and installation hole spacing), it can adapt to the installation space of different shaft diameters and equipment. Some standard models can also be directly matched with universal bearings, reducing the difficulty of selection and replacement.


Auxiliary protection and convenient maintenance


Most bearing seats will integrate protective structures, such as dust covers (to prevent dust and impurities from entering the bearing), sealing rings (to block liquid infiltration and adapt to humid environments), and oil injection holes (to facilitate regular lubrication and extend bearing life); Partial split type bearing seats (such as split type) can be disassembled, and bearings can be replaced without disassembling the entire shaft, greatly simplifying maintenance processes and reducing equipment downtime.


2、 Differentiated characteristics of bearing seats made of different materials


The material is the key to determining the applicable scenarios of the bearing seat. The mainstream materials include cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, engineering plastics, etc., each with good differences in characteristics:


1. Cast iron bearing seat (commonly used, such as gray cast iron HT200, ductile iron QT450)


Advantages: Low cost, mature casting technology, and the ability to produce complex structures (such as heavy-duty seats with reinforcing ribs); Gray cast iron has good shock absorption and can absorb the vibration generated by bearing operation, reducing equipment noise; Ductile iron has a strength 30% to 50% higher than gray cast iron and is suitable for medium load conditions.


Limitations: Poor corrosion resistance, prone to rusting in humid environments, requiring regular painting for rust prevention; Low temperature toughness is poor, and cracking may occur in severe cold environments.


2. Carbon steel bearing seat (such as Q235, 45 # steel, mostly welded or forged structure)


Advantages: High tensile strength (45 # steel tensile strength ≥ 600MPa), more impact resistant than cast iron, suitable for heavy-duty and impact load scenarios (such as mining machinery and crushers); Good welding performance, can customize non-standard structures according to equipment requirements (such as irregular seats for large equipment).


Limitations: Corrosion resistance is similar to that of cast iron, requiring surface treatments such as galvanizing and chrome plating; The shock absorption is weaker than cast iron, and the noise may be slightly higher during high-speed operation.


3. Stainless steel bearing seat (such as 304, 316 stainless steel)


Advantages: Strong corrosion resistance, surface passivation film can resist damp, weak acid and alkali, salt spray environment, and does not require frequent rust prevention maintenance; Good hygiene, smooth and pore free surface, not easy to attach microorganisms, in line with food and pharmaceutical industry standards; Strong adaptability to high and low temperatures (-200 ℃~400 ℃), suitable for extreme temperature conditions.


Limitations: The cost is 2-5 times that of cast iron; The hardness is slightly lower than that of carbon steel, and in heavy-duty scenarios, the seat body needs to be thickened or high-strength models (such as 316L) should be selected.
